Call for Entries

Your challenge
Show us your new design visions for domestic living. This includes the innovative use of materials in furnishings and interior and exterior spaces, new furniture concepts, new proposals for domestic rituals and sustainable energy solutions. Both experimental proposals and real world client projects may be entered as drawings, models, full-scale prototypes, animations or videos.

Judging criteria
Innovative use of materials, conceptual strength, sustainable resourcing, creative functionality, new rituals for domestic usage, innovative technology, and intriguing innovations of form will guide the jurors in both the Professional and Student Categories.
Awards
$1500 will be awarded to one project in the Professional Category and $1000 to one project in the Student Category. Recipients will be announced at the Exhibition Opening and Awards Gala during the annual Design Santa Fe events. Award winners will be recognized in press releases, websites and social media of Design Santa Fe and Creative Santa Fe.
Eligibility
This juried exhibition is open to professional and student designers of interiors, furnishings, industrial, lighting and landscape, and architects, artists and innovators. Entrants from the Southwest states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Utah are welcomed.
Entry deadlines
Project submissions are due July 31, 2012. Projects selected for exhibition must be received in Santa Fe NM September 1-15, 2012.
Professional entry fee $50.00 for single entry, $20.00 for each additional entry.
Student entry fee $25.00 for single entry, $10.00 for each additional entry.

Competition jurors
Laura Carpenter is the principal of LCProjects, an art, design and technology consulting firm; and is the Creative Director of Creative Santa Fe and IF: Imagined Futures. She has done interior design work and has owned contemporary art galleries in Dallas, New York and Santa Fe.
Michael McCoy, of Buena Vista and Denver, Colorado, is the designer of many award winning products, including the Humanscale Horizon Light and the Knoll Bulldog Chair. He was the first recipient, with Katherine McCoy, of the Smithsonian’s Design Minds National Design Award.
Susan S. Szenasy, of New York City, has been the Editor-in-Chief of Metropolis Magazine for 25 years, the only American publication that covers architecture, culture, and design. She has moderated Design Santa Fe’s Design Dialogue for three years and speaks frequently across the U.S. and abroad.
Suzanne Tick heads her own design company, Suzanne Tick Inc, in New York City. She was the Creative Director of Knoll Textiles from 1997-2005 and continues to contribute to its collection. Tick co-founded Tuva Looms and is also currently the Design Director of Tandus Flooring.
